Mark Berman, South America backpacker for over 12yrs!
I and a small group of 4 others went up into the mountains overlooking Cusco to a special place to drink San Pedro, the day trip cost $70USD. We had an amazing experience which lasted about 10-12 hours. I can't really explain it, but it was very surreal.

Rainbow Around the Sun

I saw a rainbow around the sun in an exact circle, not a halucination. I have a photo to prove it. We hung out at the San Pedro house all day in the garden, lying on the ground on mattresses or in hammocks, lying on the floor on cushions in the house or lying on the couch. Walking around on the moon.

Walk in the Mountains

We went strolling in the mountains, met some alpacas, lay on rocks staring at the sky and listened to the sound of absolute silence! At about 5pm our chaperone for the day, a great guy, said we needed to start walking down the mountains back to Cusco before it became dark and before the bad people came out. Trying to walk down a mountain after San Pedro was hilarious. We passed some mummy tombs along the way.

Huge Feast

We had to fast all day and the night before and abstain from all other pleasures for this. So by that night we were all absolutely starving. We went out to a restaurant in the backstreets of Cusco and had a huge feast, all the while San Pedro was still saying 'Hello'!
