Trelew is where the Welsh immigrants came to settle in the Patagonia in the late 1800's. Trelew has nice plazas, parks, a lagoon, antique
buildings and a good museum to enjoy. Trelew is the hub of wool processing in Argentina and maybe once the home of dinosaurs. Trelew is (by bus)
1hr south from Puerto Madryn and 4hrs 15mins north from Comodoro Rivadavia. Egidio Feruglio Museum
Egidio Feruglio Paleontological Museum (museum of natural
science) is an interesting place to visit in Trelew. Here you can see fossils, dinosaurs, skeletons and many more findings and discoveries
from the region. There is also the Regional Museum Pueblo de Luis located inside the antique train station very near to the science museum.
Chiquichano Lagoon
Chiquichano Lagoon is a nice peaceful place to visit in central Trelew. A natural reserve that you can sit beside or walk around and some
birdlife to see.
Plaza & Buildings
Plaza Independencia is the main plaza where you will find the church Parroquia Maria Auxiliadora and a few monuments.
Possibly one of the best antique buildings in Trelew is the National Bank of Argentina building on 25 de Mayo 2 (street), 2 blocks from
Plaza Independencia.
Tea In Gaiman
Gaiman is a small town near Trelew famous for it's Welsh tea houses. Take a local bus from the Trelew
bus station to get to Gaiman. There is not that much to see in Gaiman apart from the old train station which is now a regional museum and maybe the river, the park and the church.
