the bleak and barren no man's land, the huge faces of rock are hard to comprehend. About 3hrs into the journey the bus stopped at a little
sandwich and helados (icecream) stand called Donde Pepe, some locals came aboard with food at one point too. Later in the journey some
green valleys did start to appear. I did see something interesting on a hill as the bus got closer to Arica, a set of monuments, weird
looking things, several meters high. We passed by settlements in treeless valley areas high on the road above and soon after arrived in
Arica just as it was getting dark.
Co-op Taxi to Tacna
Once in Arica I walked nearby to the co-op taxi and bus terminal to Tacna in Peru. The Peruvian's were busy packing
up their goods that they sell in Chile during the day and heading back to Peru. I booked a co-op taxi to Tacna.
